The deputy executive director standards at UNBS Patricia Bageine Ejalu reveals that they have stopped manufacturers of all therapeutic drinks from advertising with the media until they meet the set quality standards of their goods.
In a closed door meeting held on Monday this week between, UNBS, UCC, NDA and manufacturers of these drinks, it was revealed that most of the products on the market don’t meet the set standards and were advised to fast subject their product to the required testing procedures by the line standards agencies namely UNBS which checks and certifies product quality standard and NDA which checks and certifies health products before sold on the market.
Bageine further confirms that most of the manufacturers have filed adverts to the media which carry the wrong message which continue to mislead the consumers hence putting their health at stake as they consume products with sometimes wrong ingredients.
Its upon this that the standards agencies have resolved to halt all therapeutic drink manufacturers from advertising with the media until their products are certified by NDA and UNBS.
The intervention by the standards agencies follows public out cries over the quality of therapeutic drinks all performing the same health task.
