The political arena is finally open for the game following the first day of nomination across the country, the exercise which has seen historical politicians bounce back.
In Kampala, the exercise has relatively come with no convoys, disco sounds, crowds to hold processions but the aspirants have exhibited wearing styles and magnificent colors.
A few who are nominated today in Kampala and Wakiso include Joel Ssenyonyi (NUP-Nakawa west) Hon. Fred Ruhindi (NRM-Nakawa west) John Kenny Lukyamuzi (CP) and Kato Lubwama (independent) (Rubaga south) Betty Namisango Kamya (RNM-Rubaga north) Abubakar Kawalya (NUP-Rubaga north) Nankanja Mariam Nakato (woman mp Kampala-JEEMA) Segirinya Muhamad and Sulaiman Kidandala (NUP-Kawempe north) Muhamad Nsereko (Kampala central) Rosemary Seninde (Wakiso woman mp-NRM) Robert Ssebunya (NRM) Muwada Nkunyinjji (NUP) Semujju Nganda (FDC) Stella Nyanzi (Kampala woman MP-FDC) Margaret Ziwa (NRM) Sebuliba Mutumba (Kawempe south-DP) and many others.
Many of the nominated candidates on the opposition are preaching the gospel of cause political change in the country with some like John Kenny Lukyamuzi who is bouncing back after two terms out of parliament believes that its very dangerous to leave the country in the hands of one generation and to him he wants to mix with the young blood to cause vibrancy in parliament and the country’s leadership as a whole.
However, the NRM candidates are still preaching the same message of consolidating the gains brought about by the NRM geared at moving the country to greater heights.
Away from the promises, the politicians wore elegant clothes with the most outstanding being, John Kenny Lukyamuzi who put on a grey suit, light purple shirt and dark purple tie with a back clothe symbolizing conservation of our cultures as Ugandans, something the conservative party has stood for since time in memorial.
In her yellow gomasi, Magaret Ziwa looked very smart but her counterpart Stella Nyanzi donned in a blue kitengi with a blue head cover matched into the nomination center with too much swag and after the exercise she took a swipe at her former FDC member and kampala woman Mp Hon. Nagayi Nabilah Sempala whom she accused of not serving the electorate to their expectations during her last term ending soon.
Though Stella Nyanzi exhibited swag, Faridah Nambi maximized the swag as she came using a yellow grader with her posters on it, holding a sped donned in a nice yellow outfit with black gumboots with a white hat. Being NRM she well represented the party colors. This now was swag to the fullest.
As day one closes in some kind of silence except for the few where Semujju Nganda was arrested the day was full of harmony and now waiting for the day which is tomorrow.
