The NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today started his virtual campaign.
Campaigning from state house Nakasero this evening, Museveni focused on social and economic empowerment of Ugandans with the main aim of driving Ugandans out of poverty.
Accompanied by the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni and the party’s top brass, Museveni mentioned challenges people face when it comes to land ownership across the country and on this he stated that they plan to issues land titles to all land owners across the country to give full ownership of land by people as this will solve the growing land wrangles in the country between absentee landlords, the rich and the poor.
Being that he started his 2020/21 campaigns in Luwero today, Museveni put his focus on extending clean piped water in Luwero, Nakaseke, Nakasongola.
He further noted that both solar and none solar water systems will be laid down in greater Luwero to facilitate domestic consumption and irrigation to support agriculture production in the area.
“The water project seeks to have one borehole or piped water in each village to easy water access in the area.”
He further stated that he is to look into the high school fees structures charged by schools saying it has disadvantages many Ugandans preventing them from accessing descent education.
But he also noted that there are now strongly focusing on technical education which will impart skills among Ugandans who will be providing labor to the country’s growing industrial sector.
“ I will be ashamed to see Kenyans taking up jobs in Ugandans factories and Ugandan citizens are left out because of no skills “ said Museveni.
Upon this he said all public technical schools will be free of charge as a way of attracting more students to take up skills education.
After assuring free technical education, Museveni confirmed that he wants every sub county in greater Luwero to have a primary school, secondary and technical schools.
He also asked people in Luwero to shift from subsistence farming to modern and mixed farming if they are to transform their livelihoods and supplying the local factories with raw material.
The poor roads in, karangwa, kikubanyonyi, Ngoma, Semuto, Kikyusa, Bamugolode, Kabimbiri, Nakaseke,Kasangombe, etc are to be constructed and others rehabilitated to ease movement and transportation of goods and services in greater Luwero.
With the road network to be boosted, the unemployment problem is to be tackled by attracting more industries to add on to the existing industries in the country.
According to NRM all this will be positive if the country’s hydro power problem has been solved.
