As he wrapped up his campaigns in Lango sub region today, the NRM Presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni urges the population in the region to vote his party in the coming elections as its has exhibited mighty to solve big problems in the country.
At the second press conference in Lango today, Museveni mentioned big problems like poor education, health, infrastructure, instability among others which have derailed Uganda’s growth and development.
On education,Museveni told the region that the current number of primary school goers is equivalent to the population which was in the region in 1986.
Making more development in the field of education he assures them of constructing more than 1000 primary, secondary and technical schools to bolster skills and literacy among the young population in the region which is also happening in other parts of the country.
Lango being a region with large water bodies with challenges of longer dry seasons which affects agriculture, Museveni stated that they plan to construct more solar power irrigation schemes in the region to help farmers irrigate their crops and provide water to their animals.
This according to the NRM is aimed to driving the Langi out of poverty to transit to a middle income status by 2030.
However, he mentioned health strengthening by building new facilities and systems to truck theft of medicines.
But with all the above done people need a smooth transport network to link the region to other parts of the and for this he plans to construct a bunch of roads linking Lango to Teso, Karamoja, Acholi and Weatnile.
And in this huge plans to revamp the railway line from Teso, Lango Acholi to Westnile are underway to facilitate easy movement of goods and services.
Meanwhile he pledges to compensate communities in the region with UGX.50 billion to restock the animals they lost in the 20 years LRA insurgence.
The candidate will be holding campaigns in the Westnile region before heading back to Lango on Sunday to meet with the youths.
