The ministry of gender ,labor and social development together with UN agencies will today launch an online platform in Bukomansimbi district where children below 18 years will log in instantly and report cases of sexual harassment, without going to police.
While launching the world girls report on on line harassment ,the state minister for youth and children affairs Florence Nakiwala kiyingi said that the information reported by children will be taken as final evidence by police.
Nakiwala says this has been done to allow the children report first hand information since many have been frustrated by either police , parents or perpetrators when they try to report cases of sexual abuse.
Kiyingi says that during the Covid19 lock down there were over 10,000 cases of sexual abuse but over 4000 were reported.
Yesterday Makerere University launched an App where students can report acts of sexual violence without going to the office of the university administration. This is aimed at protecting the identity of the victims.
