The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman, President Yoweri Museveni has directed party’s village executive committees to ensure that all members participate in the upcoming primary elections.
This follows NRM Electoral Commission’s guidelines for the September 4 party parliamentary elections that restricted those missing in the registers from voting except in the six villages that have no voters registers.
In a statement released this morning, President Museveni quoted the NRM constitutions and guided that members whose names are missing in the registers should immediately be permitted to vote once they are verified and are above the age of 18.
However, he warned of using the voters’ registers as the source of conflicts in the party primaries saying that such issues should be handled prior to the polling date and also ensure that the registers are forwarded to the Secretary General after the elections.
