Following yesterday’s resolution by some IPOD members to have a meeting on Friday to discuss the current political situation in the country, another IPOD member JEEMA has followed FDC to object to attending the meeting to be chaired by the NRM chairperson, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters today, the party spokesperson, Ssentongo Kyamundu calls for a structured way with a clear agenda and a clear resolution implementation mechanism if what is to be discussed will be put into full implementation.
Kyamundu goes ahead to state that as a party, they believe that dialogue is the only way they can heal the bleeding nation currently but he fears this may not be possible given the usual business of just discussing and leaving the resolution in the conference rooms.
JEEMA insists that many times they have discussed national issues and nothing has been implemented, something he says continues to stagnate Uganda’s democracy.
Kyamundu now wants the NRM government to fast work on the previous resolutions, deal with the high levels of human rights abuse, expeditiously address the suspension of DGF which has been among the main funders of IPOD
In a related development, Uganda people’s Congress party joins the Democratic Party to confirm taking part in the third summit of inter party organization for dialogue (IPOD) that will take place on 5th March 2021 at kololo airstrip.
The party spokes person Faizo Mzei said UPC as a party has been at the fore front of championing dialogue and constructive engagements across the political divide in the interest of the national development of Uganda.
Faizo adds that the the first ever IPOD SUMMIT was held under the rational leadership of UPC and Munyonyo speaker hotel on 12th December 2018,which was followed by that of 2019 in May at protea hotel Entebbe under leadership of DP which engagements help to strengthen and shape on the multiparty democracy in the country.
UPC there fore confirms it’s attendance in the forthcoming IPOD summit and pledges full continuous commitment to IPOD business.
