The Kampala District Woman Member of Parliament Nabilah Naggayi Sempala has spoken out over her ambitions of contesting for the Capital City Lord Mayorship saying she is to stand as a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member on an independent ticket.
In July this year, FDC rejected giving Naggayi its ticket for Lord Mayor and instead handed it over to the incumbent Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who just joined the party.
Addressing journalists at the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) headquarters in Kawempe, Naggayi explained that she is ready to battle Lukwago given her membership in FDC being branded as ‘a Spy’ since her introduction in the party 15 years ago up to date.
She identifies herself as ‘a single mother’ into politics who is ready to battle her own party flag bearer and some of the family members that are in the competition including the former Kampala Mayor Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala and the Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebaggala.
The 2021 Kampala mayoral race is headed for a tighter contest with Lukwago, Naggayi, Nasser Ssebaggala, Latif Ssebaggala, local artiste Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon and Dan Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee among others.
