Government of Uganda has approved 45.9 billion shillings to cater for Nurses and midwives lunch allowance for 180000 nurses in this coming new financial year.
This has been revealed by state Minister in charge of primary healthy care Dr. Joyice Moriku Kaducu during the press briefing at Uganda media center and explained that Government took steps through cabinet to reach on the decision following the strike that has been on for the nurses since the inception of this year.
Kaducu has also applauded nurses for calling off the strike and pledged to continue supporting them.
Meanwhile usher Wilson were the chairman of National organization of trade union has congratulated upon the Government for taking a positive response of addressing the nurse’s needs and in the same way warned the government officials the likes of RDCs to avoid threatening nurses as they set to resume their work and in the same way called upon the nurses to resume their duties and also go for covid testing.
Initially nurses have been been getting 3000 shillings as lunch allowance but with effect from the new financial atleast each one will be getting UGX.10000.
