One of the suspects implicated in the murder of former police spokes person Andrew Felix Kaweesi tells-off the state that he cannot be their star witness in this case .
This morning Kyambadde Joshua has raised a concern before High court judge Duncan Gaswaaga that several security personnel have approached him promising him freedom if he signs statements turning him into a key witness to pin his seven co-accused at the commencement of the trial.
But a candid Kyambadde has made it clear before court today that he is not interested in becoming a state witness so prosecution may go a head and maintain murder, aggravated robbery and Terrorism charges against him if it so wishes.
Kyambadde is jointly indicted with Yusuf Mugerwa, Bruhan Balyejusa, Jibril Kalyango , Yasin Nyanzi , Hassan Kasujja, Abdul Rashid Mbaziira and Alamandhan Higenyi .
Kyambadde says even though he fears for the safety of his life , he cannot turn against his colleagues with whom they have been in jail and suffered together at the hands of the state by giving false testimony.
The eight men’s case is before the International Crimes division of the High court and it will come up again on Wednesday this week for a pre-trial conferencing in which prosecution will openly disclose to court it’s intended evidence against the suspects.
The suspects have however expressed concern that they are unable to effectively follow court proceedings because some of them sustained visual and hearing impairments due to torture in custody , They say these untreated injuries coupled with high transport costs to and from court makes their lives difficult and the trial so costly.
These now want the state to quickly pay their 640 million shillings that the High court awarded them in 201 as damages for torture at the hands of state security agencies.
