Experts have warned Ugandans about the likely negative implications of self medication towards their health.
The 2nd wave corona virus has so far proved to be the worst virus claiming a hundreds of people in less than a month .
Apparently in a bid to fight the covid19 the biggest percentage of the population has opted to use the herbal remedies like ginger, lemon, bee honey and marijuana among others which the medical practitioners don’t agree with.
Dr Brian Ssekayombya a representative of National Drug Authority expressed his concern about the Use of herbal medicine saying it wouldn’t be bad to use these herbals but they are being used without ascertaining what they exactly cure.
Dr Ssekayombya has urged people to avoid using the COVIDEX herbal drug since it has not yet been approved by National Drug Authority as well as going through clinical trials.
The COVIDEX herbal medicine that claimed to be curing Covid19 was introduced by professor Patrick Engeu Ogwang a renown Researcher in herbal medicine and also the Head of pharmacy at Mbarara university of science and technology .
Meanwhile researchers through TWEWEZA a civil society organizations on health has revealed that 46% of people in Kampala depend on herbal medicine, steaming as a remedy for preventing COVID.
