The National Livestock Census is due to Commence from 17th to 28th of MAY this year with a total of 8267 numerators who will be conducting the exercise countrywide.
The whole exercise is budgeted at UGX. 11.4 billion for the entire exercise accorded to the National Bureau of Statistics and ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries.
In his address to media Hon. BRIGHT Rwamirama Minister in charge of Animal Husbandry has reveled that Uganda last conducted The National livestock census 2008,1999,1991 and 1963.and explained some of the reason why this exercise is being conducted among which include the better planning for farmers in terms of service delivery among others and urged farmers for better corporation.
Uganda had a total of 11,408,740, Goats12,449,656,sheep 3413,340,and 36,354,070 retrospectively
Minister Rwamirama has also revealed that the growth Uganda’s livestock and numbers since 1963 has increased tremendously attributing it to The country’s Good climate, the elimination of Rinder pests, tsetse flies the department of Government and also the consistent sensitization of farmers that eventually realized that farm rearing is a business.

The recruitment of Numerators will take place at the district level and each one will be pay paid 150000 shillings as allowance 60000 shillings as transport refund per day.
